The BLANC Notting Hill store on Lonsdale Road — W11's eco-first luxury dry cleaner, specialising in vintage, designer, and one-of-a-kind pieces.
Notting Hill is one of the few neighbourhoods in London where the question of how a garment was cleaned matters as much as how it was made. The community here is design-conscious, eco-aware, and unusually well-informed about what conventional dry cleaning actually does to natural fibres. It is also the neighbourhood with the highest proportion of vintage and one-of-a-kind designer pieces of any of our stores.
BLANC's Lonsdale Road store sits a few minutes from Portobello Road, in the heart of W11. We are the eco dry cleaner Notting Hill residents come to when their wardrobe is built around pieces that cannot be replaced — a 1970s silk dress from a Portobello market stall, an early Westwood tailoring piece, a hand-knit cashmere passed down through a family. None of these survives conventional dry cleaning. They are why BLANC exists.
Notting Hill's Eco Dry Cleaning Specialist
BLANC was built around eco-friendly garment care from the start. The conventional London industry still relies on perchloroethylene, a solvent classified as a probable human carcinogen and banned for new operations in France since 2022 and California since 2023. It is harsh on delicate fibres, dulls colour, and leaves a chemical residue many customers can smell on collection. We have never used it.
Our cleaning methods are non-toxic throughout. We use advanced wet cleaning with biodegradable detergents for most garments, liquid CO₂ cleaning for the most delicate and embellished pieces, and ozone treatment for odour removal where wet cleaning would be inappropriate. The gentler process protects natural fibres, preserves dye structure, and extends the life of the garment. Browse our full garment cleaning service for the technical detail of each method.
Caring for Vintage, Designer & One-of-a-Kind Garments
Vintage and designer pieces are not standard dry cleaning material. The fabric is often older than the cleaning machinery built to handle it. The dyes are sometimes unstable. The construction may include techniques no longer used in production. A high street cleaner who processes everything in batches with a single solvent cannot read these pieces. We can.
Every vintage or one-of-a-kind garment that arrives at the Lonsdale Road store is inspected individually before anyone touches it. The fabric is identified. The construction is noted. Any prior repairs, weak seams, or fading are documented and photographed. Only then is a cleaning method chosen, and even then it is often tested first on a hidden seam allowance. As a luxury dry cleaner W11 clients have come to trust for irreplaceable pieces, this is the level of care the work requires.
The Portobello Road Community's Choice
Our clients in W11 sit at the centre of London's creative community. Designers, writers, art directors, architects, gallery owners, dealers, and the people who furnish their homes from the Portobello Road market and dress from the boutiques on Westbourne Grove. Dry cleaning Portobello Road residents trust has to align with how this neighbourhood actually thinks about consumption: less, better, kept longer.
We collect across Notting Hill, Holland Park, Westbourne Park, and the surrounding W11 and W10 neighbourhoods on a complimentary basis. Alongside dry cleaning, we offer a separate wash and fold laundry service for the everyday wardrobe that does not require specialist care, processed at the same standard with the same non-toxic methods.
