Clothing Alterations and Repairs London

Clothing Alterations and Repairs London

In-house clothing alterations and repairs at BLANC Chelsea. Hems to couture reshaping, carried out by our own tailors on Lower Sloane Street.

BLANC’s tailoring team works in-house at our Chelsea Studio on Lower Sloane Street. Every alteration and repair is carried out on the premises by our own tailors, not outsourced to a third party. The range covers everything from a straightforward hem to full couture reshaping, and includes work that other shops routinely decline.

Specialist clothing alterations at this standard are rare in London. Our team reads the garment before cutting, which is what sets us apart.

Alterations and repairs we handle

Everyday alterations

Hems taken up or let down. Linings replaced. Waistbands eased or taken in. Sleeves shortened or adjusted. Seams repaired. Zips replaced. These are the alterations that we carry out most often, across suits, dresses, coats, shirts, and knitwear.

Dress, suit, and couture work

Dress alterations range from just a simple adjustment on a cocktail dress to a structural change on a couture evening gown. Our suit alterations cover Savile Row and Continental tailoring with the same precision. Couture alterations on structured, embellished, or hand-finished pieces are part of our regular work. Many of these pieces are declined by other tailors because the construction demands only specialist handling and our team accepts them.

Repairs

We handle clothing repairs that wardrobes accumulate over time such as fraying buttonholes, torn pockets, split seams, and damaged linings. If the piece is worth keeping, then it is worth repairing properly.

Wedding dress alterations

Wedding dress alterations are part of our daily work at the Chelsea Studio. A wedding dress is the one garment in a wardrobe that has to be right on one specific day, and the difference between a dress that fits and a dress that fits perfectly is usually the work of a good tailor.

Bodice adjustments, hem lengths, bustle fitting, sleeve reshaping, and strap adjustments are all handled in-house. Because our tailoring sits under the same roof as wedding dress cleaning and preservation, a gown can be cleaned, altered, and finished in a single visit without being hustled between shops.

The advantage of in-house tailoring

Good tailoring has become increasingly difficult to find in London. Our tailors sit at the Chelsea Studio, working alongside the cleaning and finishing team, meaning a garment can be cleaned and altered in one visit. A silk dress that needs both a stain treated and a hem adjusted does not leave the building between services.

The tailor, the cleaner, and the finisher are all in the same building, working to the same standard, on the same piece. That is the operational advantage of in-house work, and it is the primary reason clients come to us for alterations rather than using a standalone tailor.
