When BLANC opened in Marylebone in 2013, the majority of London’s dry cleaners were soaking garments in perchloroethylene — a carcinogenic solvent already banned in California and heavily restricted near residential buildings in France. The customer experience was transactional. The process was toxic. Nobody in the industry seemed bothered.
